Solar Check Methodology

The Solar Check is a simple Great Britain suitability model, not a rooftop survey or electrical sign-off.

Scope

V1 covers plug-in photovoltaic systems without batteries for England, Scotland and Wales. It excludes Northern Ireland, rooftop solar, batteries and whole-house installation design.

Generation bands

For suitable unshaded positions, the model uses 640-730 kWh/year for south, south-east and south-west positions, and 540-620 kWh/year for east or west positions. North-facing positions are treated as a technical reference only.

Savings bands

Savings are broad annual ranges based on when electricity is used. Higher daytime use produces the strongest range; mainly evening use produces a weaker range. Shading and uncertainty suppress personalised economics.

800 VA and panel wattage

The 800 VA figure is the maximum apparent AC output to the mains. It is different from PV-module DC nameplate capacity. The Solar Check keeps those quantities separate.

The launch catalogue contains three UKSOL kits whose exact retail models map to Compliant ENA register entries and live Argos product pages.
